Meet Kris
With 15 years of hands-on experience in the roofing industry, Kris has worked on everything from domestic roof repairs and replacements to new-build developments and restoration projects. His experience covers pitched slate and tile roofing, flat roofing systems and the more detailed work involved in traditional roof construction.
His particular areas of expertise are slate roofing and leadwork, where an understanding of traditional materials, correct installation methods and careful attention to detail are essential. Over the years, he has developed his skills working alongside experienced roofers and gained professional roofing qualifications.
After years of working for established roofing companies, Kris decided to start Toner Roofing with a clear focus on delivering properly planned roofing work, honest advice and high standards of workmanship.
Today, he leads a team of skilled, qualified roofing professionals and remains closely involved in every stage of a project, from the initial roof inspection and quotation through to installation and the final walkaround with the customer.
Our Roofing Work
Roofing work often involves more than the main roof covering. Damaged guttering, deteriorating roofline timbers, leaking valleys and problems around chimneys can all require attention.
Our services range from individual repairs to complete roof replacements and new installations. We also undertake EPDM rubber and torch-on felt flat roofing, alongside gutter repairs and replacement, and full uPVC fascia and soffit installations.
Spray foam insulation removal is another part of our work, including associated roofing repairs where required.
Whether the job involves a single problem or several areas of the roof, we can assess and carry out the relevant work as part of the agreed project.
Understanding the Work Involved
Every job starts with understanding the problem and what the customer needs.
Kris carries out an initial site visit, inspecting the roof and, where relevant, the inside of the property to investigate signs of water ingress. Photographs help explain what has been found and where work may be required.
Once the condition of the roof has been assessed, we'll talk through the available options. For some properties, a targeted repair may be appropriate. Others may need more extensive work, particularly where the roof covering has deteriorated or several areas are causing problems.
Quotations set out the proposed work, materials, labour costs and expected timescales, giving customers the information they need before making a decision.
Throughout the project, we place particular importance on keeping the worksite tidy, respecting the property and keeping customers informed about progress.
Kris remains involved through to completion, including a final walkaround to review the finished work with the customer.

Spanish Slate Roof Replacement in Gosforth
One project Kris is particularly proud of involved replacing the roof on a period property in Gosforth.The work included a new Spanish slate covering, a substantial lead box gutter, chimney leadwork, re-bedded coping stones and new cast-iron-effect guttering.The existing natural stone slates were also carefully removed so the homeowner could retain them for resale.The project brought together two areas of roofing Kris particularly enjoys: slate and leadwork.
